RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MARY PAT PALUMBO ON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 47 YEARS OF

TEACHING

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo is retiring after 47 years as a teacher at Nativity of Our Lord/Bridgeport Catholic Academy; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council have been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Patrick and Joan Welsh; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo was raised on the South Side of Chicago in Bridgeport and attended Nativity of Our Lord and Visitation High School; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo received her BA. in History from the University of Saint Francis; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo started teaching intermediate and junior high grades at Nativity of Our Lord/Bridgeport Catholic Academy; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo was deeply devoted to the school by serving various roles which include: Assistant Principal, Junior High Coordinator, Eucharistic Minister, Mission Coordinator, CCD instructor, Coach and Curriculum Evaluator; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo was also responsible for preparing students for the Sacrament of Confirmation and coordinating the 8th Grade graduation ceremony and activities; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo received the "You Make A Difference Award" from Queen of Peace High School as well as the "Outstanding Teacher Award" from Saint Ignatius College Prep; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo had a successful impact on the students she taught and mentored over the last 47 years at Nativity of Our Lord/ Bridgeport Catholic Academy and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat can enjoy retirement with her husband Ron, her son Ron and his wife Luci and her grandchildren Giana and Dominic; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Palumbo will be remembered and respected for her friendship and the important role she has played in educating our youth; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby congratulate and extend our warmest wishes to Mary pat Palumbo on her retirement after forty-seven dedicated years.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mary Pat Palumbo.
