Dear Alderman Smith:
On behalf of The Methodist Home, this is to request that you introduce into the Chicago City Council during its March 9, 2011 meeting an ordinance to waive all City license, permit and inspection fees for the 2011-2013 licensing periods. Your favorable consideration of this matter is appreciated, as the institution's City licenses will expire on July 15, 2011.
Per staff from the City Council Committee on Finance, we have been asked to attach a sample ordinance to this letter for your review.
The Methodist Home is participating in a program offered by the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC). This program, which was initially suggested by various members of the Chicago City Council and their staff, is designed to promote efficiency and expediency between Chicago's health care facilities and the City of Chicago's licensing process. The program will better coordinate the institutions with City agencies responsible for licensing and enforcement. It also will promote prompt compliance with Chicago's health care facility and other business license laws, and preserve the strong relationships that each institution has with its respective alderman.
