RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Lowell I. Stahl grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and attended St. Patrick Academy (now Saint Patrick High School) where he was student body president and an accomplished athlete. Though only 5 feet 9 inches, he received a basketball scholarship, was .an All-Catholic League football quarterback and won five college athletic scholarships; and,
 
WHEREAS, After serving in the Korean War, in 1955, Lowell married the love of his life, Nancy, and had two children, Jeff and Sue; and,
WHEREAS, In 1954, Lowell Stahl started his real estate career working for J.J. Schmidt Insurance and Real Estate. He later became the owner of J.J. Schmidt; and,
WHEREAS, In 1974, Lowell Stahl opened the first Century 21 franchise in the Chicago area, pioneering the concept of real estate franchising in northern Illinois. He served as President and Chairman of the Chicago Real Estate Board and District Vice President for the Illinois Association of Realtors and was identified by the Chicago Real Estate Board as one of the 25 most prominent real estate professionals in Chicago history; and,
 
WHEREAS, Lowell Stahl sold his Century 21 interest in 1995 and became majority shareholder and Chairman of Labe Federal Bank, where he brought his innovative business skills to the evolving financial industry. Under his leadership, Labe Bank registered significant growth and success over the years, which led to its sale in 2005; and,
 
WHEREAS, Lowell Stahl is a partner in PFS Group, a real estate financing company and has been a member of the Lewis University Board of Trustees since 2008. He also is a member, director and/or chairman of many corporate, civic and charitable boards; and,
 
WHEREAS, Perhaps more than most, Lowell Stahl recognizes that a value centered education is the primary ingredient needed for the success and stability of our country, and he pledges his energies and leadership to insure that kind of education continues to be a part of St. Patrick's future; and,
WHEREAS, Lowell Stahl has honored the Christian Brothers by his acceptance of the Lasallian Award in 1990, by his willingness to be named a Bene Fest Honoree in June 1992, and by his gracious acceptance of the General Chairmanship of the first-ever Saint Patrick Capital Campaign, which began in October 1994; and,
WHEREAS, Lowell Stahl's first generous pledge to St. Patrick High School merited the naming of their Vision 2000 facilities expansion. His second transformational gift resulted in the renaming of the Saint Patrick Performing Arts Centre to the Stahl Family Theatre; and now therefore,
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 16th day of October 2013 A.D., do hereby commend Lowell I. Stahl for his dedication and support to Saint Patrick High School; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of thirresolution be prepared for presentation to Lowell I. Stahl.
