TRIBUTE TO LATE NAKESHA LYNN JOHNSON
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Nakesha Lynn Johnson, most beloved citizen and friend of her community, to her everlasting reward, Saturday, August 10, 2013; and
WHEREAS.This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 7, 1992, Nakesha Lynn was born at Bethany Hospital to Gwendolyn Johnson and Christopher Stanciel and was blessed in 1994 to be reared and later adopted by her Aunt Ora Dean Wash-Underwood. After her mother, Ora's death in 2005, Nakesha and her siblings were parented by their oldest sister, Carolyn Spencer, and
WHEREAS, Nakesha accepted Christ at an early age, she was a faithful member of the First Corinthians M.B. Church under the leadership of Bishop Clause E. Tears, where she served as a junior usher and in both the junior and combined adult choirs, and
WHEREAS, Nakesha graduated from Ralph H. Metcalfe Elementary School and Percy L. Julian High School. She was known by her family and friends as Ke-Ke, she was loud, outgoing, funny and full of laughter and life. She had a passion for cooking and dreams to become a licensed cosmetologist, and
WHEREAS, Nakesha was an active member of the Greater Roseland Community Committee where she served as a board member for the Youth Voices Against Violence Organization, Although her life was cut short, she leaves a strong lasting impact on everyone whose lives she touched; and
WHEREAS, Nakesha leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, Gwendolyn (Danny) & Christopher (Teresa), her sister/parent Carolyn Spencer, sisters Paulette (Clinton), Alexander, Andrea (Troy) Cochran, Tasha (Carlos) Williams, Michelle Johnson, Nicole Roberts, Thelma Johnson, lesha Moore, Nicolette Johnson, Taquita Johnson, Quiana Johnson, & brother Lezerick Johnson, nieces, Denysia, Shania, Mariah, Niyah, Akiyah, & nephews, Malik, Davion, Robert, Camel, special cousins Darius, De'Von, Kendra, Dionna, Kristian, Kyra, Tracey, Deon, Kayla, Troy Jr., DeShawn, Danasia, her Godmother Angelia Phelon and host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and many, many friends; and
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 11th day of September 2013 A. D., do hereby express our heartfelt sadness at the loss of such a beloved community member as Nakesha Lynn Johnson, and extend our most sincere sympathy to her family and friends; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Nakesha Lynn Johnson.
