RESOLUTION HONORING MIKE ANTONOPOULOS AND MR. D'S SHISH-KABOBS ON THEIR INDUCTION INTO THE VIENNA HOT DOG HALL OF FAME

 

 

WHEREAS, Mr. D's Shish-Kabobs, a well known and beloved institution in the Mont Clare neighborhood of Chicago, is being inducted into the Vienna Hot Dog Hall of Fame on March 1, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. D's Shish-Kabobs was established in 1969 on the northeast corner of W. Diversey and N. Normandy in the Mont Clare neighborhood, a result of the hard work, expertise and dreams of Mike and Ann Antonopoulos; and

 

WHEREAS, the Vienna Hot Dog Hall of Fame inducts those businesses who offer their customers the best of the "Chicago Hot Dog" (no catsup!), and recognizes Mr. D's Shish-Kabobs as one of the best, as evidenced by their long lines and loyal customers; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike Antonopoulos and his family have loyally served generations of families, many who grew up in Mont Clare, returning with their children and grandchildren to enjoy its fare, many traveling great distances to do so; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. D's is recognized for its superb Vienna Hot Dogs as well as its steak sandwiches, Italian beefs, shish-kabobs and fries, still serving its original menu, which is still very much in demand; and

 

WHEREAS, Mike Antonopoulos is to be commended not only for his great food, but for his ability to remember the most complicated order without writing it down! and

 

WHEREAS, Mike Antonopoulos, his wife Ann, and their children John and Elaine are to be congratulated on this honor and thanked for establishing an iconic business in the great City of Chicago, previously recognized by Chicago's Best (Channel 9), 190 North (Channel 7), and the Chicago Tribune; and

 

WHEREAS, The citizens of this great city are urged to partake of this neighborhood treasure and visit Mr. D's Shish-Kabobs; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this 16th day of March, 2016, A.D., do hereby express our congratulations to Mike Antonopoulos and his family on this well deserved recognition, and wish him and Mr. D's every future success.
