TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF CLARA EDWARDS LAVIZZO
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, has called Clara Edwards Lavizzo, an outstanding citizen and member of her community, to her everlasting reward on Sunday, December 27, 2015 and
WHEREAS, On April 28, 1952, in Greenville, Mississippi, John and Erma Edwards became the proud parents of their newborn daughter, Clara. Clara was the second of four children who blessed and brought joy and happiness into the Edwards Family. She received her eduction through the Chicago Public System and graduated from Bowen High School. She continued her education and obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting from Olive-Harvey College; and
WHEREAS, Clara confessed her faith into Catholicism and participated joyously with the congregation at St. Alibe's Church. She matured into a young woman filled with an abundance of grace, intelligence and patience, and captured the heart of the young man who was to become her loving and devoted husband, Michael Lavizzo. Michael and Clara were united in Holy Matrimony at St. Alibe's Church and shared many memorable years together until his untimely death in 1993. Clara and Michael were blessed with a daughter Timiko who was given all their love,devotion and attention; and
WHEREAS, Clara Edwards Lavizzo was a dedicated employee in the many years she was in the workforce. She was an employee with The Chicago Public Library, J.C. Penny's and Mount Sinai Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Clara Edwards Lavizzo, a cherished friend and good neighbor was always eager to share her tasty recipes, provide sound advice and guidance to all. She will be deeply missed but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Clara Edwards Lavizzo leaves behind to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, loving daughter, Timiko; sister, Gwen (Darryl); brothers, John (Phyllis) and Ledall (Tina); two grandchildren, Kenisha and Bakari; three nieces, Janeen, Amdrea and Leda; one nephew, John Edwards III; her best friend of over forty years, Annette Hardaway; her companion, Raymond Carr and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of this outstanding woman; now therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 10,h day of February 2016 A.D., do hereby offer our sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Clara Edwards Lavizzo and express our hope that the coldness of their grief be soon replaced by their warm memories of her.
