CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER SAMUEL L. BROWN ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
. WHEREAS, On January 16, 2017, Police Officer ; Samuel L. Brown retired from the ; Chicago Police Department following twenty-six years of dedicated public service; and;
f WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the .', Honorable .Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20* Ward; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Samuel L; Brown, Star #11209, retires as a valued member

WHERE AS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police Department-"We Serve and Protect" - exacts, a substantial physical 'and' emotional: toll not only . on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for . countless citizens; but also on their family members; and - ,
- • WHEREAS, Throughout a long and distinguished tenure, Officer Samuel L. BroWn upheld the finest traditions of law enforcement community and his hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his col leagues, and the communities he protected; and :
WHEREAS, Police Officer Samuel L. Brown devoted twenty-six years of his life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The. leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt
owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long .and prolific career of
Police Officer Samuel L. Brown; now, therefore , I
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this 13th day of December, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude for twenty-six years of work iii service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartfelt wishes on a pleasant retirement to Samuel L. Brown; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and
