MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR RONALD SID BRIDGEMON, SR.
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned ofthe passing of Mr. Ronald Sid Bridgemon, Sr. on June 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Gregory i. Mitchell, Alderman of the 7th Ward; and
WHEREAS. Ronald was the eldest of ten children born to the blessed union of Delores Bannister-Bridgemon and Golden Suggs. He was born on March 14, 1948. in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, He adored his grandmother, Martha Bridgemon, who was actively involved in raising him. Ronald confessed his devotion to Christ at an early age; and
WHEREAS, Ronald graduated with honors from Tilden Technical High School where he was on the wrestling team. After graduation in 1966, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He reached the rank of Sergeant and served his country with courage and commitment until his honorable discharge in 1970; and
WHEREAS. Ronald married his childhood friend and sweetheart Beverly Ann on March 15, 1969. They had four children and have lived for over twenty years on the 2400 block of East 74th Street; and
WHEREAS, He studied pre-medicine at Chicago State University. Ronald's distinguished career included stints at the United States Air Force, University of Chicago, People's Gas, Chicago Housing Authority and City of Chicago's Traffic Management Unit. His post-retirement career included work as a carpenter, interior designer and masonry restorer; and
WHEREAS, Ronald was a renaissance man who loved reading and trivia. He was a fantastic cook who made an unmatched gumbo and barbeque. Ronald was highly skilled in mathematics and frequently tutored his grandchildren. He was a wonderful conversationalist, able to discuss social, economic and political affairs. He frequently imparted wisdom on family and friends like "Yesterday is a cancelled check: Forget it. Tomorrow is a promissory note: Don't count on it. Today is ready cash: Use it"; and
WHEREAS, Ronald leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Beverly; children, Sonita, Michelle (Brad), Tracye (Theodore), Ronald, Jr., Shawnna, Shikota and Jabari; thirteen grandchildren, Eric, Jr., Demi, Jhade', Theodore, Jr., Makayla, Marshaun, Hasani, Brooklynn, Rashad. Isis, Ayden, Sonnie and Mila: siblings, Golden, Larry, Eugene, Crassandra, Loretha, Andrew, Richard, Steven and Monique; and a host of loving family and fr.iends; and
WHEREAS, Ronald touched the lives of all who knew him through his love and caring spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Ronald Sid Bridgemon, Sr.
