TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF JAMES WILLIAM PIPKINS. SR.
 
 
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has called James William Pipkins, Sr., an outstanding public servant and member of his community, to his eternal reward, October 28, 2014 at the age of 78; and
 
WHEREAS, James William Pipkins, Sr. was born February 7, 1936 in Canalou, Missouri to the union of the late Mary Tate and Will Pipkins. He was educated in New Madrid, Missouri and graduated from O'Bannon High School. James accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and worshiped faithfully as a member of Christ Miracle Healing Center Church. As the lead singer of the Male Choir, James often sang his favorite song, "Walk This Road To Glory"; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1959 James moved to Chicago where he met and married the former Linda Jean Tate. They were married in 1960 and to this union eleven children were born. James was employed with Apex Meat Packing Company as a butcher and after many years of dedicated service James retired to become an entrepreneur; and
 
WHEREAS, James William Pipkins, Sr. was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
 
WHEREAS, James William Pipkins, Sr. leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Linda Pipkins, his children, James W. Pipkins, Jr. (Linda Lee), Gary Pipkins (Cozette), Lezette Pipkins, Lacheryl Ausley (Raphial), Theopelius Pipkins, Duwane Pipkins, Gloria Smith (Maurice), Gerome (Linda Sue), Melron Pipkins, Terrence (Christene) Pipkins, and Darren (Stephanie); two brothers, Percy Pipkins, Sr. (India) and John Pipkins; one sister, Katherine Henry; 30 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and many friends; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 15th Ward has informed this august body of the passing of James William Pipkins, Sr.; now therefore
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council assembled this 21st day of January 2015 A.D., do hereby express our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. James William Pipkins, Sr. and extend our deepest condolences to all those who cherish his memory and mourn his passing.
