WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the departure of Linda Triplett Perry on June 13, 2018, at the age of seventy-six years old; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Linda Perry was born to Ruby Watson and Ceaser Triplett in Tribbet, Mississippi, on September 29, 1941; and
WHEREAS, Linda accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord with all her heart. After moving to Chicago she joined the St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ross; and
WHEREAS, Linda later joined Mt. Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Leon Millerwhere she faithfully served as a member of the Mother's Board and choir. Linda had a passion for singing and used her talent to minister musically to the people of God; and
WHEREAS, Linda served the City for twenty-eight years as a dedicated employee of the Chicago Department of Health and Human Services; and
WHEREAS, Upon her retirement, Linda enjoyed relaxing at the casino and eating crab legs at Red Lobster; and
WHEREAS, Linda leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lindsay Douglas (Denise), Marilyn (James), Jeraldine, and Jerome (Shaunda); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends; and,
WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her son, William Triplett; four grandchildren, and best friend, Ms. Chestnut; and
WHEREAS, Linda touched the lives of all who knew her through her love for Christ and caring spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Linda Triplett Perry.
