COMMEMORATING THE VISIT OF AMBASSADOR DR. LENORA PETERSON-MACLIN TO CHICAGO

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Lenora Peterson-Maclin, PhD., the official CNAC Certified Ambassador for the Corporation for National Volunteer Community Service (CNCS) of People Choice Awards, will be gracing Chicago with her presence for an award service on April 5, 2019, to honor great scholars for the work they have accomplished for Chicago and the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Chicago City Council have been informed of this significant event by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward and Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Government Operations; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin is a Licensed Minister, Senior Pastor, and Founder at Women of God Forever Ministries and the Vision in You Outreach Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin is the Chief Executive Director of The Global of International Alliance online Honorary Advocate Leadership, a program of the CNCS; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin obtained her Doctorate in Philosophy and Theology studies on April 19, 2013 from Luther Rice College and Seminary in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin has a long history of ministering to many people, including: serving under Dr. Juanita Bynum and Bishop Thomas Week Ministries for six years; the Social Media Network Evangelist Counseling; and, The Circle of Saints of God Ministries Network of the World; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin has dedicated her life to supporting volunteerism, being a volunteer herself with multiple organizations, including: Public Relations for Global Empowerment Movement (GEM), a United States non-profit, humanitarian organization and a federal 501© (3) corporation dedicated to empowering women and youths, transforming and restoring those who have been abused, administering empowerment initiatives that rebuild lives and communities; addressing African immigrant victimization issues, human trafficking issues, providing support for families, single mothers and children in distress as well as to bridging the gap between Africans and People of African Descent in the Diaspora, scattered in our local communities in the United States, Africa, and around the world; and as a partner at Gateway Center in Atlanta, Georgia, a program actively working to end homelessness; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin is a highly valued member of multiple organizations and initiatives, among them: the United Nations Economic and Social Council for UN Women; Government Contract Association (GCA); Member of and Pastor of the National Association of Professional Women, DeKalb-Gwinnett Chapter; International Congress of Churches and Ministries; The Point of Light Foundation (part of CNCS) which recognizes the importance of volunteers and humanitarians all over the world and is a partner with the Obama Foundation; partnership as the Ambassador for C.O.R.E.G Foundation; official Certified Ambassador for the former 44th President of United States of America Ptoakient Barack Hussein Obama Volunteer Awards; partner for the National Inner City Gun Violen7d6/Pre^eQttti6/0(f America Inc.; NAACP Foundation; and, the National Action Network Civil Rights ^Jganization; and"'

WHEREAS, Dr. Lenora Peterson-Maclin, has been the recipient of many honors and awards, notably: A Proclamation: for her outstanding work anti-gun violence in community service from The New York City Council (2018); recognition during the Council of the City ofNew York 1st Annual Inner City Gun Violence Award Service (2018); Aaron's Beard School of the Prophet's Bible College Ministry Education (2018); Dr. Tanda Canion Foundation Ministries (2018); Congressman John Lewis, 5th district of Atlanta, Georgia, Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition; Senator Donzella James 35th District Recognition for serving the Community (2017); Certificate of Honor from the Spirit of Love Life Empowerment International (2016); The Purple Ball Ambassador Award, Lupus-Foundation (2016); the Georgia Outstanding Citizen Proclamation Award (2016); the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (2010); volunteer award for Women Helping Women (1995); City of Cleveland Proclamation Award for Volunteer work (1994); and Committing for Children fundraising from Mayor Michael R. White, Cleveland, OH (1992); and

WHEREAS, In 2010, Dr. Peterson-Maclin authored the book: How to Mastermind Your Ministry or Church Business at Little or No Cost Over the Internet; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Peterson-Maclin's life has been the embodiment of her mission to: empower and invest in communities by taking action to educate children and families with information on gun prevention, human trafficking, domestic violence help provide supportive services for advocacy and positive community changes; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this tenth day of April, 2019, do hereby extend our heartiest welcome to Dr. Lenora Peterson-Maclin on her visit to the City of Chicago; and
