Enclosed is the application for renewal of the permit for the First United Methodist Church continued use of sub-sidewalk space, which requires the Alderman's approval and signature.
Please reintroduce the ordinance to waive.this very substantial permit fee since the sub-sidewalk, area is used by the church for charitable purposes including the Theatre of Reconciliation, a kitchen used to feed the homeless, Sunday school classes, church meetings and storage space. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts in behalf of the Church and its many services to the Loop Community.
Also enclosed is a copy of your ordinance dated April 9, 2008 to which we find no response regarding passage or the refund request for the street closing permit fee of $16,841.19.

ORDERED, that the Director of Business Affairs and Licensing, the Director of Revenue, and the City Comptroller are hereby authorized and directed to cancel the compensation fee in the amount of $89,655.00 for a period of five years at a rate of $17,931.00 per annum, for permit No. 1046185, for a grant of privilege for the use of the public way relating to the two (2) Sub Spaces to be used as the Theatre of Reconciliation, a kitchen used to feed the homeless, Sunday school classes, church meetings and storage space, said space on West Washington shall be ninety-one (91) feet in length and twelve (12) feet in width for a total of one thousand ninety two (1,092) sguare feet, and said space for North Clark Street shall be one hundred ninety-two (192) feet in length and twelve (12) feet in width a total of two thousand three hundred and four (2.304) sguare feet, charged to 1st United Methodist Church of Chicago Aid Society, for their premises located at 77 West Washington.
