RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Pastor John E. Jackson was born in Indianola, Mississippi in January of 1945 to loving parents Willie and Rosie Jackson, the oldest of nine siblings born to this union; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Jackson married his high school sweetheart, 1st Lady Queen Josephine, and in 1964 she gave birth to their first daughter and the family relocated to Chicago; and
WHEREAS, committed to providing for his family in their new home of Chicago, Pastor Jackson worked various jobs and secured employment in 1967 with CFS Continental, a nationwide food and coffee manufacturer and distributing company; and
WHEREAS, in 1975 Pastor Jackson accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and embarked on a new path for his life, joining Prayer Mission Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Oscar Bridges. As a Sunday School teacher, church bus driver, and a member ofthe Deacon's Board, he served his church community dutifully, earning the respect of many; and
WHEREAS, in 1978 he was ordained to Elder and in 1981 he was called into pastorship and became Pastor of Revival Fellowship Church of God in Christ; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 Pastor Jackson used his business savvy to start Chariot Express Messenger Service, a professional courier company servicing the Chicagoland area. Not only committed to business development and advancement, but also giving back to the community, Chariot's community outreach efforts have also secured employment and training for hard-to-place individuals, offering a new start and opportunities to many; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the achievements of Pastor Jackson, who is well respected and admired, and has received many awards and recognitions for his work. He is the loving husband to his wife of over fifty years, devoted father and grandfather, and advisor and mentor to many; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby recognize Pastor John E. Jackson for his service and commitment to his community and wish him many more years of happiness and success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Pastor John E. Jackson.
