SALUTE TO MATTHEW G. BALZEKAS UPON ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT
WHEREAS, Matthew G. Balzekas, a member of St. Daniel the Prophet Boy Scout Troop 475, and an outstanding young citizen of Chicago's great 23rd Ward, will be awarded scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout will be bestowed upon Matthew G. Balzekas by the Boy Scouts of America at a Court of Honor ceremony held at St. Daniel the Prophet, Brennan Hall, on Saturday, April 2, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Matthew G. Balzekas has dedicated his time, service and loyalty to the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his time, Matthew G. Balzekas has gained knowledge on the significance of community, family, and honor; and
WHEREAS, Matthew G. Balzekas has personally benefited frpm his commitment to the Boy Scouts of America. His experiences have made him a physically strong, mentally awake and a moral young man; and
WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is achieved by only two per-cent of boys who enroll in the scouting program. In order to become an Eagle Scout, a scout must earn 21 merit badges in addition to completing several community service projects. Matthew G. Balzekas has completed all requirements and has been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review who has certified his worthiness for this highest scouting distinction; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael R. Zalewski, Alderman of the 23rd Ward has apprised this august body of this auspicious occasion and the significant honor accrued by Matthew G. Balzekas; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 13h day of April, 2011 A.D., do hereby salute the success of Matthew G. Balzekas of Boy Scout Troop 475, on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him every success in any and all future endeavors he may wish to undertake.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Matthew G. Balzekas.
