RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING CAPTAIN TERRANCE MCMAHON ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM AN OUTSTANDING CAREER
WHEREAS, On January 15, 2011, September 16,1999, Captain Terrance McMahon began his well-earned retirement following over thirty-eight years of outstanding service to the people of this great City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of special event by the esteemed Alderman of the 10th Ward, John A. Pope; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of our great city have been fortunate to have had in their midst Captain Terrance McMahon, truly one of "Chicago's Finest"; and
WHEREAS, Terrance McMahon joined "Chicago's Finest" June 4, 1973, and worked his way up through the ranks to become, ultimately, Captain on December 14, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Officer McMahon #10819 served with honor and distinction in the 007th and 022nd District; in August 1980 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned star number 1354 and served in the 001st District until promotion to Lieutenant in August 1990; Lieutenant McMahon #745 served in the 005th and 001st District until his promotion to Captain on December 14, 2001. Captain McMahon #89 served in the 021st, 018th and 007th Districts until his permanent assignment to the 004th District in June 2002. During his distinguished career Captain McMahon was awarded 1 Department Commendation, The Democratic Nation Convention Award, 4 Crime Reduction Ribbons, 23 Honorable Mentions and 5 Complimentary Letters; and
WHEREAS, Captain McMahon's dedication to the Law Enforcement Profession and the men and women working under his command have earned him the respect of his peers and the heartfelt gratitude and thanks from the Citizens of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Captain Terrance McMahon retires to spend quality time with his wife of 33 years, Mary Margaret, and children, son, Thomas McMahon, a member of the Chicago Police Department assigned to the Tactical Response Unit and daughter, Erin McMahon who is an Orthodontist's Assistant; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long career, Captain Terrance McMahon represented the highest standards of public service and earned the respect of all Chicagoans; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this ninth day of March 2011 AD, do hereby express our congratulations and our gratitude to Terrance McMahon for his 38 years in service to the people of this City, and we extend to this outstanding citizen our very best wishes for continuing success and fulfillment.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Captain
