MEMORIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MAUREEN KUHN

WHEREAS, Maureen Kuhn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on January 22, 2022 at 85 years of age; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Maureen's passing by the Honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, Maureen attended Immaculata High School, Rosary College, and Northeastern Illinois University; she received her Master's degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University where she and her husband, Tom, Sr., were the first married couple to go through the program; and

WHEREAS, As a Reiki Master and Spiritual Director, Maureen positively impacted so many people over the years; she led countless retreats at the Oshkosh Jesuit Retreat House and Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House, and was involved with the Ministry for the Homebound at Queen of All Saints in the City; and

WHEREAS, Maureen loved spending time in Mineral Point, Wisconsin where she enjoyed summers during her childhood and maintained several close relationships with friends; she and Tom, Sr. also wintered on her beloved Marco Island, Florida for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Maureen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Anthony Kuhn, Sr.; brother, Carl McGarrity; her mother, Helen Morgan McGarrity, and her father, Liquori A. McGarrity; she leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Thomas A. (Jan) Kuhn, Jr., Brian G. (Erin) Kuhn, Kelly (Ray) Fiocchi, David G. (Karen) Kuhn, Kevin G. (Nancy) Kuhn, and Mary Michael (John) Roth; her grandchildren, Anna (Grant), Scott (Sara), Brett (Cynthia), Christina, Colleen (Nick), Stephanie, Patrick, Morgan, Charlie, Maggie and Sarah; her great-grandchildren, Raegan, Jane, and Luke; and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Maureen's spirit and energy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who loved her; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of March, 2022, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Maureen Kuhn; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Maureen Kuhn as a sign of our honor and respect.
