Memorial Resolution for Jesse "JD" Drain
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Jesse "JD" Drain, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward on August 9, 2017; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Jesse "JD" Drain was born on July 26th, 1947, to the late Murphy Drain-Sago and Henderson Drain in Greenwood, Mississippi. He attended and graduated from Amanda Elzy High School and moved to Chicago after his graduation, working at Ryerson Steel for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Jessie accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Itta Bena, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Jesse met his wife, Dianne Whitt, and the couple married on June 10, 1972. To this union, one son was born, Jesse (Deno) Drain II; and
WHEREAS, Jesse leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 45 years, Dianne Drain; one son, Jesse (Deno) Drain II (Krystal) of Mobile, Alabama;f brothers, Wesley Drain, David Sago, Samuel Sago; sisters, Mary Drain Strickland, Murphy Sago Heard, Verda Sago Jones and Zebra Sago Scott; step -brothers and sisters, Stevie Drain, Michael Drain, Robin Ray Drain, Debbie Drain, Judy Drain Robinson, Brenda Drain Brisco, Carolyn Drain Nunn; two granddaughters, Jessica Dianne Drain and Nieshia Jackson; four grandsons, Jesse (little Jesse), Derrick, Darnell and Nicholas; four sister-in-laws, Elaine Whitt, Ivanola Whitt, Kathleen Whitt Gates, Barbara Sago; brother-in-laws, Walter Whitt, Labairan Whitt, Samuel Whitt, Ronald Whitt, Dorian Jones and Harry Strickland; devoted Uncle Moses Lewis; lifelong friends J.B. Logan (Jerry) and Milton Glass; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of September, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Jesse "JD" Drain; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Jesse "JD" Drain as a sign of our sympathy and good wishes.
