RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that members ofthis chamber learned ofthe death of Scott Raymond Achtel; and
WHEREAS, Scott was the devoted husband of Christine (nee Bonk); loving father to Allison (Blackmur), Jeanine, and Danny; proud papa to Parker (Blackmur); brother to Jill (Walker); and son to Diane and the late Raymond Achtel; and
WHEREAS, Scott was born and raised in Chicago and attended Portage Park Elementary School and Lane Tech College Prep where he earned high honors; and
WHEREAS, Scott served 5 years with the Cook County Sheriffs Office as a guard in Cook County
Jail; and
WHEREAS, in 1995 Scott entered the Chicago Fire Academy. He served as a Firefighter/EMT for 24 years in the 17th Battalion at Engine Company 44, Truck 36, and Ambulance 83 in the East Garfield Park neighborhood;
WHEREAS, Scott was a man of accomplishment and great integrity. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 1st day of February, 2023, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Scott Raymond Achtel and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Scott Raymond Achtel.
