RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that members ofthis chamber learned ofthe death of Scott Raymond Achtel; and

WHEREAS, Scott was the devoted husband of Christine (nee Bonk); loving father to Allison (Blackmur), Jeanine, and Danny; proud papa to Parker (Blackmur); brother to Jill (Walker); and son to Diane and the late Raymond Achtel; and

WHEREAS, Scott was born and raised in Chicago and attended Portage Park Elementary School and Lane Tech College Prep where he earned high honors; and

WHEREAS, Scott served 5 years with the Cook County Sheriffs Office as a guard in Cook County

Jail; and

WHEREAS, in 1995 Scott entered the Chicago Fire Academy. He served as a Firefighter/EMT for 24 years in the 17^th Battalion at Engine Company 44, Truck 36, and Ambulance 83 in the East Garfield Park neighborhood;

WHEREAS, Scott was a man of accomplishment and great integrity. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 1^st day of February, 2023, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Scott Raymond Achtel and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Scott Raymond Achtel.
