RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the City Council ofthe City of Chicago is hereby informed of the observance of Leola White's 100th birthday; and
WH EREAS, Leola, an enthusiastic, active and much-loved resident of the City of Chicago, will celebrate her Centennial Birthday on Sunday April 5, 2015, thereby reaching a milestone few are fortunate to achieve; and
WHEREAS, Leola was born to sharecroppers Claude and Anna Williams in Natchez, Mississippi on April 5, 1915; and
WHEREAS, in 1944 Leola moved to Chicago. She was married to the late Henry Robinson and the late Tommie White, both worked in construction; and
WHEREAS, Leola has a daughter named Ann. She helps Ann raise her granddaughter Jaquie and has raised a countless number of children by marriage, church and community relationships; and
WHEREAS, Leola was employed as a laborer for Young Spring & Wire Corporation. She spent 34 years making Automobile Seats until she retired; and
WHEREAS, Leola, an active and vital member of her community, continues to encourage and rally people to vote. She sells AVON products to support her church, the 1st Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7500 S. Halsted, where she held the position of President of the Missionary Society for 47.5 years. Leola continues to provide missionary support to seniors and others in their homes and nursing homes; and
WHEREAS, Leola enjoys eating bacon, beans, chicken drumsticks and wings, dressing, greens, macaroni and Spaghetti. Her favorite color is purple and her answer to longevity is her faith in God. Her favorite quote is "If you pray don't worry. If you worry don't pray"; and
WHEREAS, Cognizant of the history to which Leola White has both witnessed and contributed, the Chicago City Council believes that Leola is richly deserving of the adulation and good wishes she is offered as she celebrates entering her second century; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised of the foregoing by the Honorable Walter Burnett Jr., Alderman of the 27th Ward; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 15th day of April, 2015, do hereby extend to Leola White our best and most fervent wishes for a grand celebration worthy of her One Hundredth Birthday; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to Leola White as a token of our esteem and good wishes.
