Elder Woodrow & Mrs. Esther Lee Hinton 50th Wedding Anniversary

WHEREAS, The members of this City Council Chamber are honored to learn of the upcoming fiftieth (50th> wedding anniversary, of the Elder Woodrow Hinton, an outstanding minister, community leader and who along with his. beloved wife Esther are long-time residents of the Austin community in Chicago, by 37* Ward Alderman Emma Mitts. In a few days, they will be joyously celebrating many years of dedicated marriage, as strong Christians and 'A husband and Wife of Monumental Faith' - - both of whom humbly wear their crowns of righteousness in the service of GOD. each other and man; and
WHEREAS, Elder Woodrow and Mrs. Esther Lee Hinton and family settled on Chicago's west side, and have lived at 1448 North Lotus Avenue in the 37* Ward for many years; and
WHEREAS, Elder Woodrow Hinton entered this world on November 7,1939 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Tenner Hinton. His parents had eleven (11) children, six of whom are still living. Elder Woodrow's deceased siblings include Mrs. Cassie Coleman. Susie, Mrs. Cieo Stewart, Mr. RoyChester Hinton, and Mr. Steve Hinton. His living siblings: Mrs. Leo Thomas, Mrs. Christine Stiffic, Mr. John Henry Hinton, Mrs. Martha Thomas, Mrs. Ollie Mae Feiders; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Esther Lee Hinton was born into existence on March 14,1940 Trenton, Tennessee. Her devoted parents, Louts & Lovie Word had 8 children, 3 of whom are still living * - Mrs. Bobbie Jean Williams, Ms. Mary Word and Mrs. Hinton. Further, Mrs. Hinton's deceased siblings include sisters Mrs. Lurlie Mae McTizic, Mrs. verlene Elder, and brothers Mr. Joseph Word and Mr. Franklin Word; and
WHEREAS, Elder Woodrow Hinton and Mrs. Esther Hinton met at a church service in 1962 at New Testament Church of God in Christ, 1411 S. Halsted Chicago, Illinois. They immediately enjoyed an understanding rapport, and after 6 months of classic and courteous courtship, Esther Lee accepted Elder Woodrow's heartfelt proposal of marriage; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire wedding planning process, early years of matrimony and throughout the past half-century of love, laughter and intensely devoted companionship, here Elder Woodrow and Esther Lee Hinton stand together - -50 years later, still going strong, and deeply cherishing ad loving each other, their children and grand children; and
WHEREAS, Elder Woodrow and Mrs. Esther Lee Hinton have remained deeply committed to their loving union for the last fifty years through a combination of several important factors: first and foremost - a deep and abiding faith in God, a firm belief in the reality of working together to have
WHEREAS, proudly joining them in witnessing this awesome 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration as a strong Black family are their children, Jacqueline Denise Hinton-Hibbler (oldest daughter), who has one daughter Promise Jacquela Divine Hibbier, the first grand-daughter born on Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Hinton's wedding anniversary. She is considered a precious gift!!! To this very day, she is spoiled rotten by grandpa Hinton; and then there is Gwendolyn Rochelle Hinton-Johnson (youngest daughter), who is the proud mother of four (4) precious sons - - Jamil Sherman, Jakari Battle, Joshua and Caleb Johnson, who are the honored and loving grandsons of the happy anniversary couple, and their great-granddaughter, Alexandria Sherman; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago Council, do hereby salute the Elder Woodrow and Mrs. Esther Lee Hinton on the honored occasion of this 50th wedding anniversary celebration, and thereby further express our very best wishes for continued successful service of this iconic and historic spiritual community leader; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Eider Woodrow and Mrs, Esther Lee Hinton with the deep respect and appreciation on behalf of the citizens of the City of Chicago.
