WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Arland Melchor, an honorable citizen, beloved member of his community to his eternal rest on December 15, 2019;
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Arland Melchor was born June 5, 1953 to Joe Melchor and Willie Sam Dunnigan. Arland was not only an identical twin brother to Andre, he was the sixth of ten children. Preceding him in death is his mother and father, along with five of his siblings; and
WHEREAS, Arland Melchor touched the lives of all who knew him through his generosity, unconditional love and his spirit. He will be deeply missed but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
WHEREAS, Arland Melchor accepted Jesus Christ and attended Apolstolic Church of God in Christ in Chicago, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Arland Melchor was educated in the Chicago Public School system where he completed courses in Architectural Drafting. He later worked several years at International Harvester Tractor Works Manufacturing Company in the drafting department. He was employed with the City of Chicago as a Police Officer. Later, he was employed by The Home Depot home improvement supplier as a hardworking well-liked employer; and
WHEREAS, Arland Melchor leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, (five children) Erinn, Ashtin (Yadira), Arland, Andre and Shaquille, several grandchildren, (two sister) Rosa and Nina, (two brothers) Andre, Sr. (Sherri) and Joe Willie (Rosi) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteenth day of January, 2020 do hereby express our sincere sorrow upon the passing of Arland Melchor and extend our deepest condolences to his family and all the many friends whose lives he has touched; and
