Resolution for Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council
Whereas, on April 18-19, 2023, the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council (ChicagoMSDC) will proudly present the 56th Annual Chicago Business Opportunity Fair (CBOF 56) in recognition of their commitment to strengthening minority supplier growth and development.
Whereas, the Chicago Business Opportunity Fair will be held at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, where suppliers and buyers from major buying organizations will be presented with opportunities to meet, network and exchange information.
Whereas, in 1968, a chain of events erupted into civil and economic mayhem that shook Chicago at its very core, prompting a group of determined corporate and community leaders to cast a spotlight of hope, creating The Chicago Business Opportunity Day.
Whereas, the following year in 1969, the event was officially re-named CBOF, Chicago Business Opportunity Fair.
Whereas, the mission of ChicagoMSDC is to certify, develop, connect, and advocate for minority suppliers as the premier supplier development organization, creating sustainable and profitable relationships between minority business enterprises and major buying organizations.
Whereas, ChicagoMSDC is one of 23 affiliates of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), a nonprofit corporate membership organization that advances business opportunities for its certified Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American business enterprises and connects them to its corporate members.
Whereas, the Chicago Business Opportunity Fair helps to further the year-round efforts of ChicagoMSDC to stimulate minority purchasing in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteenth day of March, 2023,do hereby proclaim April 18-19, 2023, to be Business Opportunity Days in the city of Chicago, in recognition of ChicagoMSDC's remarkable 56 years of advocating for minority business.
