CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF AN EXTRAORDINARY MAN

MR. SHERMAN PITTMAN

 

 

WHEREAS, on Friday, March 27, 2020, Mr. Sherman Pittman was called home by the Great I AM, "Come for I have prepared a place specifically for thee, a mansion the size of a city where your loving soul will find eternal rest." As you cross the threshold of your new Heavenly Home, straightway you will find exquisite walls displayed with platinum framed photographs of the many lives that you have touched. Instantaneously, Mr. Pittman's soul connected with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Angels stood by Heaven's Gate shouting with an exuberant voice, "Glory Hallelujah - Mr. Pittman is coming home!"

 

WHEREAS, some people will remember Mr. Sherman Pittman for his charming personality, stylish apparel and his ability to listen with an intent to hear and share great insight on difficult matters. While so many others were captivated by his hearty laugh and extreme passion for people within the community. With that, we can easily say, Mr. Pittman was a faithful man of his word and served with the utmost integrity as Block Club President of the 9000 South Ada and 1300 West 91s' Street Block Club; and

 

WHEREAS, the bible says, "A good man's steps are ordered by the Lord." Without a shadow of doubt in our minds, Mr. Sherman Pittman fits the biblical description perfectly. He spent countless hours sharing the love of God with his dearest family and friends through myriad of meaningful ways. He was a true leader, confidante and one that made an indelible impact on the lives of everyone that encountered him; and

 

WHEREAS, in the midst of our tears, let us not say, goodbye but instead give praises unto the Lord for allowing us to spend quality time with Mr. Sherman Pittman. In the days ahead, we should all desire to continue his legacy by God's grace and empathy for people everywhere; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago will virtually gather together on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 A.D. and do hereby express our sincere condolences and continual prayers to the family, friends, and members of 9000 South Ada and 1300 West 91st Street Block Club in the passing of Mr. Sherman Pittman; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution was prepared by 2151 Ward Alderman Howard B. Brookins, Jr. and a more suitable copy will be presented at a later date to the family of the Mr. Sherman Pittman.
