MEMORIAL
RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, God has granted eternal rest to Jerome Carrington, Thursday January 3, 2013, at the age of sixty-three; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerome Carrington was born on July 31,1949 in Chicago to Helen Trice and the late Jerome Carrington, Sr. He was affectionately known as "Man/Romie-Rome" by family members and friends. His stepfather, the late Elbert McCain, raised him. Jerome attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and Richard T. Crane High School; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerome met Rhoda Willis in elementary school and the couple married later in life. They were blessed with two sons, Tremaine and Tavares; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerome loved music and would DJ for various parties. He enjoyed fishing and would go to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois with his cousin Renee, friends, Greg (P.J.), Claude and Kenny. He had a close friendship with Albert and Deborah White for 45 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerome Carrington began his employment with the City of Chicago in 1992 as a laborer in the Water Department and than at the 911 Center; and
 
WHEREAS, He was a loving son, devoted and nurturing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He provided his family with an abundance of love. His mother and children were his life; and
 
WHEREAS, He leaves to cherish loving memories of his love and devotion, his mother, Helen; sons, Tremaine (Veronica) and Tavares (Alicia); brothers, Phillip, Elbert and Ricky (Brenda); sister, Vanessa (John); grandchildren, Briana, Tavares Jr., Cameron, Jordan, Jalen, Azaelia, Ki-malon, Eli, Vermain, Ramain, Vonica and Monica; best friend, Rhonda; six nephews, three nieces, one grandniece, three aunts, two uncles, a host of cousins and many friends. Jerome Carrington will be deeply missed but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore.
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 17th day of January 2013 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Jerome Carrington and extend to his family and friends our sincere condolences.
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Jerome Carrington.
