RESOLUTION. CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF APOSTLE DR. JOANN LONG
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, has called His faithful servant, most beloved citizen and friend, Apostle Dr. JoAnn Long, Pastor New Life Believers Church, to her eternal rest and everlasting peace on November 7, 2015, surrounded by her loving family members and dear friends; and
WHEREAS, This honorable body has been informed of Apostle Dr. JoAnn Longs' transition by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Long, a most beloved citizen, spiritual leader and towering figure in Chicago 's great 8th ward community, was a pioneer in the gospel. She preached with strength and honesty, blazing the trail for women in ministry not only in Chicago, but worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Apostle, Dr. JoAnn Long was blessed to be a leading expert in transforming lives, marriage and family relationships. Her most spiritual reward was spreading faith, hope and truth, whether it was through radio, television or over the internet for the past fifty years, Apostle Long was the "Difference Maker", encouraging, educating, and empowering love and unity in marriages and families; and i
WHEREAS, Apostle Long, traveled the world preaching, teaching and spreading the love of God. She was an accomplished author, she penned "The Power of Strength" and "Intimacy Under Siege", along with many others; and
WHEREAS, Apostle Long founded Urban L.O.V.E Community Development. She was a community activist in the struggle for social justice, equality and sustainability for women, men and families in need; and
WHEREAS, Her family, friends and faithful followers are gathering for the Celebration of Life ceremony in her honor, Saturday November 14, 2015 at Apostolic Faith Church; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this 18th day of November 2015 A.D., do hereby honor the life and memory of Apostle Dr. JoAnn Long and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and followers.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Apostle Dr. JoAnn Long as a sign of our sympathy.
