RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MARIE L GIGLIO PELLETTIERE ON CELEBRATING HER 100TH BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, Marie L. Giglio Pellettiere, beloved wife, mother; aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, will celebrate the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday on May 17, 2021; ahd
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this joyous occasion by the Honorable Brendan Reilly, Alderman of the 42nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Marie was born in Chicago on May 17, 1921, to her parents, Anna and Joseph Giglio, who had immigrated from Italy with their first-born daughter, Geraldine; and
WHEREAS, Marie grew up in a loving home at 2241 West Emerson Avenue (now Race Avenue), in the West Town neighborhood, with her parents and her older sisters, Geraldine, Rose, Angeline, and Lucille; and
WHEREAS, After attending Mitchell Elementary School and being part of Holy Rosary Parish, Marie moved with her family to 936 North Avers Avenue, in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, where she attended Austin High School and belonged to Our Lady ofthe Angels Parish; and
WHEREAS, Marie married her prom date, Staff Sergeant John M. Pellettiere, after he returned from serving his country in World War II in 1945; together, Marie and John raised four children: JoAnn, John, Debbie, and Danny, who was born with Downs Syndrome; Marie was blessed with having many family members in the area; and
WHEREAS, The family moved to 5542 North Osceola Avenue, in the Oriole Park neighborhood, and Marie and John joined St. Eugene Parish in 1971; after their older children moved out, Marie and Danny continued their hosting of family holiday parties and dinners after John's Passing in 1980; and
WHEREAS, A loving mother, Marie was dedicated to and focused on enriching Danny's life as his primary care giver, and they spent many happy years together enjoying all Chicago sports, but were avid fans ofthe Cubs, HaWks, and Bulls; they moved to Harbor Point in downtown Chicago in 2013; and
WHEREAS, With her tremendous faith, Marie accepted the death of Danny in 2020; she wakes up every day thankful for all the blessings in her life, especially her loving family, including her grandchildren John III, Joseph, Kristen and Luke; her great-grandchildren, John IV and Mark; and her many nieces and nephews and in laws; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-fourth day of March, 2021, do hereby congratulate Marie L. Giglio Pellettiere on her 100th birthday, and wish her continued happiness and success in all of her future endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Marie L. Giglio Pellettiere as a sign of our esteem honor, and respect.
