MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR DANIEL ROBERT MCKINLEY
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Daniel Robert McKinley, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward on December 2, 2018; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on January 24, 1928 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Robert, as he was lovingly referred to by all, was the beloved son of the late James and the late Eva Grantham McKinley; and
WHEREAS, Robert married the love of his life, Velma, and they were blessed with three beautiful daughters. Family was the center of Robert's life. He was a nurturing, caring, and doting husband and father with strong morals and a guiding belief that family fellowship was essential; and
WHEREAS, Robert was deeply committed to God and his church community. He joined Pleasant Union Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, at an early age, later moving his faithful membership to St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ; and
WHEREAS, Preceded in death, Robert's parents; James and Eva Grantham McKinley; siblings: Mildred M. Parks, Eunice McKinley Williams, Edna Odell McKinley Thompson, Josephine McKinley Bagley, Hilda McKinley Byoune, Helen McKinley Holloway, James McKinley, Jr. and Johnnie Belle McKinley; and
WHEREAS, Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved and loyal wife, Velma; loving daughters: Jean (Larry) Ward, Brenda (Donald) Wells, and Velma "Joyce" (William) Forte; brothers: Carlton (Julie) McKinley, Jesse F. (Burnette) McKinley, and George C (Cindy) McKinley; adored grandchildren: Lisa (Bradley) Flowers, Angela (Keith) Molette, Tonya (Hillis) Haygood, Wilma Blackmore, Tyrone (Avonya) Cogdell, Brenadeen (Emmanuel) Barnett, Wesley Forte, Larry Ward Jr, Renard (Renee) Ward, Camilla Wells, Eric Wells Jr.; and a host of precious great * grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and treasured friends; and
WHEREAS, Robert touched the lives of many through his unconditional love and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-third day of January, 2019, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Daniel Robert McKinley; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to the family of Daniel Robert McKinley as a sign of our sympathy and respect.
