RESOLTUION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Anthony Hayes II, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, born on September 25, 1987 to overjoyed parents Anthony Hayes and Cheryl Winters Hayes, in Chicago, Illinois, Anthony accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and expressed an impressive understanding of the teachings of the church from a young age; and
WHEREAS, Anthony was an active, social and involved young man, and demonstrated outstanding academic skills as early as elementary school, graduating as a member of the National Honors Society and the Academic Decathlon Team, earning medals in Speech, Economics, and Art, and excelling in student government and volleyball. He went on to attend Northern Illinois University; and
WHERAS, although a young man with a youthful and energetic spirit, Anthony also always demonstrated wisdom and maturity well beyond his years. His aspirations included buying a home, advancing his career, and raising a family, a young man with big dreams and infinite potential; and
WHEREAS, Anthony's remarkable work ethic extended beyond just serving himself, but anyone who needed help. He is remembered in his community as a humble man, always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need; and
WHEREAS, committed to excellence in all areas of his life, Anthony worked hard and eagerly sought out professional opportunities. At the time of his death, he was a proud two-year employee of the United States Post Office and beloved by his coworkers and those who encountered him during his career as a letter carrier. He was described as kind, hard working, and passionate about public service; and
WHEREAS, social, fun-loving, and popular, Anthony was popular and well-liked by his peers but still made family a priority, never missing a family event and staying close to his tight-knit extended family in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, a scholar, an athlete, a public servant, and a man of many accomplishments during his tragically short life, Anthony will be remembered not just for the things he did, but the way he touched the lives of so many as a person of exceptional character and a man of intelligence, quick-wit, and unrelenting compassion towards others; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Anthony Hayes II, and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Anthony Hayes II as a token of our honor, gratitude andjcespect.
