MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien, born on August 12, 1919, was called by God to his eternal reward on October 23, 2012, at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien was an active and vital member of his community. The beloved husband of Ruth Ann Bure; devoted father of Thomas (Marie) O'Brien, Teresa Bullock (George Yee), Nancy (David) Rocks, Patricia (Rickey) Frank; loving grandfather of Glen O'Brien, Bill Bullock, Ryan Yee, Christine Fako, Suzanne Rocks, James Rocks, Robert Frank, Ronald Frank; treasured great-grandfather of Bridget, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien was a retired pharmacist who had worked at Abbott Laboratories for thirty-eight years; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien was a Veteran of the United States Navy, enlisting during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Lander; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien graduated from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1942 going on to work at Abbott Laboratories, where he met his wife of forty-nine years; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien was a loyal Chicago Cubs baseball fan and Notre Dame football fan; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien was an enthusiastic storyteller; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Louis O'Brien will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifteenth day of November 2012, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of John "Jack" Louis O'Brien and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John "Jack" Louis O'Brien.
