CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO LT. KENNETH JOHNSON ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Kenneth Johnson retires from the Chicago Fire Department following 32 years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his career in 1990, Lt. Johnson, has worked tirelessly to serve the people of Chicago and retires as a valued member ofthe 3rd District and Engine 81; his presence will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, Lt. Johnson devoted 32 years of his life to public service to the people of the City of Chicago, serving as a fireman at Engine 9, Trucks 61 and 48, and at Midway Airport, before accepting the challenge of leadership as Deputy District Chief Assistant 224-A and Lieutenant in the Third District; in doing so, has ensured the safety of the City of Chicago along with his fellow first responders; and
WHEREAS, With his retirement, Engine 81 will miss Lt. Johnson's love of talking politics, following every election with vigor, and his love of all types of music; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Fire Department - "We're There When You Need Us" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll who daily cope with the stress and danger of putting their lives on the line for countless City residents; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Lt. Johnson upheld the finest traditions, commitment, and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of the City of Chicago want to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Lt. Johnson; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this fourteenth day of December, 2022, do hereby express our gratitude for 32 years of service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our best wishes on a pleasant retirement to Lieutenant Kenneth Johnson; and
