MEMORIAL
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On Monday, September 8, 2014, Pauline Stokes, an outstanding citizen, beloved friend and public servant was called to eternal life by the wisdom of our Lord God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman ofthe 8(l1 Ward and Chairman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics; and
WHEREAS, In Harvey, Illinois on November 11, 1924 Theodore Lindley, Sr. and Ophelia Lindley became the proud and loving parents to their loving daughter, Pauline. She was one of the four children who brought the laughter and joy into the Lindley family home. She attended McKinley Elementary School and Thornton Township High School; and
WHEREAS, Pauline confessed her faith in the Lord at a young age and was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Harvey, Illinois. She gave praise and glory to the Lord, her God and thanked Him daily for all His blessings; and
WHEREAS, Pauline, a dedicated employee of Sears Roebuck and Company for many years and retired to spend more quality time with her loved ones and friends; and
WHEREAS, Pauline Stokes will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, niece, friend and neighbor who enriched the lives of all who knew her in countless ways: and
WHEREAS, Pauline Stokes will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched, particularly her loving children, Paula Henley, John Jr., Glen (Farrah) and Barry; her sister, Evelyn Stokes; her sisters-in-law, Alepthea Robinson, Florine Lindley and Patsy Lindley; her aunt, Joella Lindley; her loving twenty-two grandchildren and fifty-one great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and many great friends; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighth day of October 2014 A.D., do hereby offer our deepest condolences to the family of Pauline Stokes and offer our best wishes that their grief will soon be replaced by the warmth of her memory.
