RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom. Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Deric Alan Baltimore, on August 9, 2018, outstanding member of his community who loved and was beloved by his family and many friends; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman ofthe 9lh Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Deric Allan Baltimore was born January 31, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois to Taja Beane and Demorris Baltimore; and

 

WHEREAS, He grew up on the South side of Chicago with a host of cousins and friends where he learned to play basketball and video games. He spent many of his summers at the Paradise Lake in Vandalia, Michigan learning how to swim and fish; and

 

WHEREAS, Deric graduated from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep School in 2008. As a student there, he aprticpated in multiple sports including basketball, baseball, and football. Excelling academically, he enrolled at Olive Harvey City College pursuing his basketball dream. After a short stint, he transferred to Prairie State University where again he excelled in basketball; and

 

WHEREAS, He had many loves in his life, beginning with his son Z'Marii Baltimore. He absolutely loved food. To quote his sister Devin. he was a ''food thief." The first place he would go is to the refrigerator to see what she had to eat; and

 

WHEREAS, Deric leaves behind many loved ones to mourn his untimely demise: his son Z'Marii Baltimore: parents Demorris Baltimore and Taja Beane; siblings Anwar Rhodes, Devin Baltimore, Lillian Baltimore and Kay la Baltimore; niece Malaya Baltimore; and girlfriend Teirra Tripp and her daughter Zany-iah Morris. There are also a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who mourn his passing; and

 

WHEREAS, Deric was preceded in death by his grandmothers Mary Alice Baltimore and Cynthia Beane, as well as his cousins Dante Baltimore and Nathan Gregory; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twentieth day of September, 2018. do hereby express our sincercst sorrow upon learning ofthe passing of Deric Alan Baltimore and extend our deepest condolence to his family and loved ones.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Deric Alan Baltimore.
