TRIBUTE TO LATE SAMUEL Nil ODOTEI OWOO-BATTLET, SR.
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that we have been informed of the sudden death of Mr. Owoo-Battlet, Sr., on January 28, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Nii Odotei Owoo-Battlet, Sr., the cherished husband and life partner of Vida, devoted father of Ms. Juliana Teley Owee-Battlet, Mrs. Elizabeth Amokor Nkansah, Samuel Nii Yemo Owoo-Battlet, Jr., Ms. Victoria Yemoteley Owoo-Battlet; fond brother of Mad. Victoria Yemoley Owoo, Mad Susie Owoo (sosowu), Juliana Yemorkor Owoo, Mad. Angelina Fofo Owoo, Nii Odoi Owoo, and Dr. Nii T Quao; loving grandfather of Nii Odoi Owoo-Battlet, Adjoa Nkansah and Kweku Nkansah; Chief Mourners, Nii Armah Akonfra 1 and Naa Dedei Amobiye, Ga Mantse and Manye; The Yemo Family of Accra, The Owoo-Battlet Family, The Ashitey Family of Accra and Chicago; The Fixon-Owoo Family of Accra and Chicago, The Eddie-Quartey Family; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Osae Asante Sr. and family, The Andy Bartey Family, Mr. Solomon Manson and family of Chicago, Mrs. Eunice Bruce-Amartey Family, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Manison, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allotey; uncle of Fixon Speller, Rosemary Fixon-Williams, Patience Bortey, Marian Owoo, Cynthia Adjei, Solomon Fixon-Owoo, Reggie Lamptey, Mrs. E. Tuckson and others in New Jersey, Hope Walker and sisters in Maryland, Kwarne /Ashitey and Victor in New York, Mr. C. Ashitey and others in Texas, Jenifer and Adjetey Sowah of Alabama, a host of other nieces and nephews in Ghana and abroad, will be deepluy missed. In support of the funeral occasion was : GA Adangbe Organization, Ghana Chicago Club, Asanteman Associaiton, Brong Ahafo Association, Ewe Association, Fanti Benevolent Association, Ghana Northern Union, Haske Assoiation, Okuapeman Fekuw & Okyeman Association, Kwahu United; and
WHEREAS, To his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings Samuel Nii Odotei Owoo-Battlet, Sr. imparts a legacy of love faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourth day of May, 2011, A.D., do hereby commemorate Samuel Nii Odotei Owoo-Battlet, Sr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family and loved ones.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Samuel Nii Odotei Owoo-Battlet.
