Memorial Resolution for Eddie Mae Weathers

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers was called home to our almighty God on June 18, 2017; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Eddie Mae Weathers' passing by the Honorable Michael Scott, Jr., Alderman ofthe 24th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers was the only child born to the late Mittie and Sam Chambers and arrived on June 28, 1930; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae attended Antioch School. She joined Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in August, 1940; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae married James Weathers on July 12, 1947. They were blessed with five children: Linda, Jo Anne, Anderson, Rita and Loretta. The family used many names for Eddie Mae. She was called Motherdear, Honey Muffin, LN' Suga and Nanny; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers joined Zion Hill MB Church at 1315 South Ashland in 1955. She joined the usher board and served as "a doorkeeper for the Lord" until her health failed; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae worked for Zenith Corporation until her retirement in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers was a great cook, gardener and homemaker. She was a classy lady who dressed well. Eddie Mae was active in her Block Club; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers leaves to cherish her memory her children, Linda Morris (Willie), Jo Anne Moore, Anderson Weathers (Brenda), Rita Brooks (Cary) and Daniel; grandchildren, Diondra, Willie D., Anderson L, Naeem, Shantelle, Phyllis, Brandon and Brianna; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Mae Weathers was preceded in death by her parents, Mittie and Sam Chambers; husband, James Weathers; and grandchild, Vincent; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Eddie Mae Weathers and extend to her family and friends our sincere condolences.

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Eddie Mae Weathers.
