WHEREAS, The Seibo al Progreso Organization Wisconsin, Inc. was founded in May 2009 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin; and,
WHEREAS, Marcos Hernandez Goico is the Founder and President of this organization, which has enabled him to implement numerous partnerships with educational and social service organizations; and,
WHEREAS, El Seibo al Progreso sponsors numerous events, such as "Mothers of the Year," which recognizes dozens of mothers who have distinguished themselves through their service and values as servant leaders; and,
WHEREAS, El Seibo al Progreso also has sponsored contributions to the Teofilo Hernandez Hospital, Asthma in Children and Adolescents. One was asthma medications valued at $10,000 that were distributed to health care providers; and,
WHEREAS, Seibo al Progreso has worked to provide professional development to Dominican teachers to ensure that they are familiar with the latest theories and practices. Other conferences and workshops have included the importance of the value of families and their role in advancing the quality of education in the Dominican Republic and to establish STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics in their schools; and,
WHEREAS, Under the guidance and leadership of Marcos Hernandez Goico, Seibo al Progreso continues to envision new projects to develop, and implement new strategies to reduce poverty and improve the life conditions of El Seibo Dominican Republic; and,
WHEREAS, On Friday, October 19, 2018, the Dominican American Midwest Association will be hosting their Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony and will be honoring Marcos Hernandez Goico and presenting him with the Dr. Ramon Garcia Educational Award, for his and El Seibo al Progreso's contributions and services, and now therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 20th day of September 2018 A.D., do hereby congratulate Marcos Hernandez Goico on his dedication and service; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Marcos Hernandez Goico.
