MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF ROSE A. MAYERBOCK

 

WHEREAS, Rose A. Mayerbock, beloved wife, adored mother, grandmother, and staple of Chicago's Northwest Side community, has gone into eternal life on February 5, 2021, at the age of 66; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Rose's passing by the Honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, A beam of light to everyone who met her and a dedicated public servant, Rose was a vital part of the 39th Ward community; and

 

WHEREAS, Rose first began serving her neighbors as a crossing guard, where her warm smile and enthusiastic greetings were welcomed by many children of the Mayfair and surrounding neighborhoods for fifteen years; and

 

WHEREAS, Her cheerful and caring personality made Rose a natural fit as the Director of Constituent Services for the 39th Ward Public Service Office, under the leadership of Alderman Margaret Laurino and Alderman Samantha Nugent, where she quickly earned a reputation for being a "go-to-person" among the Ward's constituency and an unofficial "office Mom" to both young and contemporary colleagues alike; and

 

WHEREAS, Rose's diligent area of expertise with the Ward's senior citizen population was above and beyond; whether addressing a case with an elderly property owner that was taken advantage of to ensuring isolated seniors were in need of every resource that local government can provide, especially in the most extraordinary and trying scenarios; and

WHEREAS, Rose's warm and professional representation of the 39th Ward in monthly senior CAPS meetings and advisory councils is what made her presence well known and respected; leading to positive impacts and lasting relationships with the community; and

 

WHEREAS, While Rose's unwavering commitment to her neighbors was well known, anyone who had the opportunity to meet Rose quickly discovered that her number one priority was being a devoted wife, mother to her three sons and a grandmother to her grandchildren, where she created a welcoming home and always made herself available to friends and family alike; and

 

WHEREAS, In addition to embodying the spirit of public service and being a wonderful mother, Rose and her husband Bud were active parishioners and volunteers at St. Edward School and Parish, where their continued commitment strengthened the Mayfair community; and

 

WHEREAS, Rose is preceded in death by her late husband, Joseph "Bud" Mayerbock; her oldest son, Jay Mayerbock; and her brother, Bob (Anna) Faber. Rose leaves behind to cherish her memory her three sons, Patrick (Gina) Mayerbock, Timothy (Amy) Mayerbock, and Sean (Kara) Mayerbock; her grandchildren, Scarlett Marie, Molly Rose, Debbie Rose, Timothy Joseph "TJ", Macy Lee, and Maddox Jay; her brother, Tom (Kathy); and the thousands of residents Rose has helped over her tenure as a public servant; and

 

WHEREAS, Rose will be missed by her family and all who knew her; may her infectious laugh, her "Rosie-isms" and her spirit, remain in our hearts forever; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-fourth day of February, 2021, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Rose A. Mayerbock; and
