RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TECHNOLOGY MANUFACTURING ASSOCIATION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA) was founded in 1925 by eight small manufacturing companies who chose to create an association in order to better represent their members, add value and serve their industry; and

WHEREAS, throughout the years, members established programs and services to help their businesses grow and prosper, train their employees, and provide medical and retirement benefits thereby assisting in the development ofthe member's global competitiveness; and

 

WHEREAS, as a result of these efforts, TMA has grown into a 1,000 member not-for-profit organization of precision manufacturing and supplier companies representing 30,000 employees throughout Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, since its founding, TMA has served as a valued source of employee learning and development for member companies and has evolved into a leader in hands-on training and workforce development by continually expanding the scope of TMA's educational offerings to meet the evolving needs of its members and manufacturing students of all walks of life; and

 

WHEREAS, TMA is a leading voice in an evolving manufacturing industry and a major economic driver and job creator for Illinois, and has worked on behalf of its members to raise the level of awareness ofthe importance of manufacturing through its advocacy programs at the local, state and federal levels; and,

 

WHEREAS, TMA is currently celebrating its 90th Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, this esteemed body has been informed of this milestone by Gilbert Villegas, Alderman ofthe 36th Ward; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, this 13th day of April, 2016, recognize the Technology and Manufacturing Association for its lasting contributions to our City and State and wholeheartedly congratulate TMA on this milestone anniversary; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Technology and Manufacturing Association.
