MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR JERRY D. MCCLELLAND

 

 

WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Jerry D. McClelland, affectionally known as "Dr. i" ,most beloved citizen to his eternal reward on, July 13, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry was born April 20,1956 in Lambert, Mississippi to the union of (the late) Charlie McClelland and Ida May McCray with eleven siblings Samuel (Bernestine) McCray, Sallie Mae McCray, Bessie (Willie) Grant, Charlie McClelland Jr., Geraldine McClelland (twin), Willie Earl McClelland, Lee (Yolanda) McClelland, Jacqueline McClelland, Cleora Velinda McClelland, James Edward (Hester) McCray and (the late) Schavya McCray; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1968 and dedicated his life to Christ at Truth and Deliverance International Ministries, Chicago, IL; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry attended Triton College and earned his degree in mechanics and opened his own business in 1986 on Chicago's west side on Chicago Avenue 'Top of the Line" and later added a carwash in 1998; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories; his beloved wife Susan McClelland; stepson, Steven Dryden Tunks and stepdaughter, Sanitha (Mike) Lancaster; first wife, Judy Mims and children, Aubrey McClelland, Felicha McClelland, Jeri McClelland, Gerald McClelland, Joann Buckley Westmoreland and Serena Wosar; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, James McCray (Uncle), extended family and treasured friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry "Dr. J" "Doc" and doting grandpa, was a leader, trendsetter and patriarch who devoted his time ensuring the family join together during holiday celebrations and family gatherings. He will be deeply missed but his dedication and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty - six day of July, 2017 A.D., do hereby commemorate Jerry D. McClelland Newton for his many lifetime contributions and do hereby extend to his family and many friends our sincere condolences.

 

Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Jerry "Dr. J,"Doc" McClelland.
