WHEREAS, On Sunday, May 22, 2011, the Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom called to his eternal paradise, Leontine Snead; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Leontine was born November 18, 1935 in Canton Mississippi, to the union of James and Katie Mae Taylor, Sr. She was the second eldest of eight children, four girls and four boys; and
WHEREAS, Leontine left Yazoo, Mississippi to join her family in Chicago, Illinois. In High School she was introduced to one of her passions for sewing and hat making; and
WHEREAS, Leontine met and married Creswell Snead and to this union two children were born, Katie and Frederick. They were married for 42 years until Creswell made his transition in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Leontine pursued her passion for cooking and later started a successful catering business for which she owned and operated for many years. For many years Leontine developed a large following of dedicated clients who appreciated her attention to detail and planning abilities. She was an excellent cook as well as a sharp dresser. She loved to throw parties and had become an expert at decorating the dining table. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman, that was loved by all and will be truly missed; and
WHEREAS, Leontine was preceded in death by her husband Creswell; and leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, a daughter, Katie; a son, Frederick; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Erica; two great-grandchildren, Brenden and Leilani; three sisters, Josephine, Zula and Vinnie; two brothers, James and Eugene; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this eighth day of June, 2011 A.D do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Leontine Snead and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Leontine Snead's family.
