BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to an ordinance heretofore passed by the City Council which allows erection of honorary street-name signs, the Commissioner of Transportation shall take the necessary action for standardization of West 18th Street, from South Paulina Street to South Wood Street as "Avenida Carmen Escarzaga".

Carmen Escarzaga, 65, passed-away suddenly on Wednesday, Aug: 24th, 2016 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, fllinpis sur-rounded by her family Ms. Carmen Escarzaga ¦ known to her students as "Maestra Carmen" was a.devptedcosrhe-tology instructor, who dedicated her life to her students, customers and family. Ms. Escarzaga was a cosmetology instructor, a business
owner, a life coach, a mentor, and loving mother. She died doing what she loved best, cutting hair. Prom a young age her lifelong dream wa9 to become a hairstylist Through bard work and many Btniggles she made her dream come (roe. For the last 25 yean, Ms. Escarzaga taught at Truman College, one ofthe City of Chicago Colleges, graduat-ingmany students Who successrully became registered cosmetologists and many-who have thrived as business owners themselves. Ms. Escarzaga, was very passionate in sharing hoi love of education and shared her knowledge mrougb continuing education. She was loved by all who knew her and had me magic of making people feel and look beautiful for over 35 years. Whe never denied anyone the honor of Creating magic with her bands. Ms: Escarzaga was a true pillar of hCT community. She wu a successful business women who owned and opeiated Liz Beauty Salon located an ISthStreet in Pilsen for over threedecades. She had multiple business including two beauty schools and .five salons through her short fife." Over the ooirse ofher Cosmetology ctkct she won multiple trophies from many hair shows including 2nd placo in the Proud Lady Hair Competition. Countless recognition awards for her community service in donating tree haircuts to multiple organizations including £asas Americas, Lvndin House, many Senior Citizen homes, and countless back to school events throughout the city of Chicago. Ms. Esearaaga, was a devoted educator who loved life to its fullest and cherished every moment with her family. She endlessly spread her love, time, and devotion to making people feel beautiful.
