Please accept this letter as a formal request for a Ffr-minute standing loading zone. It will be located in front of 4810 N. Broadway approximately 34 feet long. Hours will be between 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. seven days a week. Its main purpose will be for valet and deliveries.
I am also requested that the current sign be moved. Currently the existing pay box sign and no parking sign are directly in the middle of the canopy that will be up by the end of March. The pole will make it difficult for customers to enter into the canopy from the street. I am requesting that the pole be moved 4 feet south of its existing location. Once the pole is moved, I am requesting that the 15 minute standing loading zone begin from that point and stretch back 34 feet. Two existing parking spaces will be affected.
I implore you to allow this request for it is vital to my business and to minimize any congestion Broadway. If you have any questions or concerns I can be reached at 312-493-5600. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Bahador Sedghi Owner
Ernie Constantino

RE: 4810 N. Broadway: New Cairo Restaurant's Request for 15-Minute Standing Zone
Hi Ernie,
We have completed our research on this request, and after having spoken to some of the neighboring business owners, the property owners of the building, and the business owner making this request, we offer our approval of this request for a zone that would allow for valet service and deliveries.
One thing to note - in our research it came up that the zone will eliminate 2 parking spots. The business owner explained that the size of the zone is necessary so that cars can pull in to the valet area without having to parallel park and stop traffic. That strikes me as quite valid, but it also occurs to me that the zone is immediately north of a bus stop, so this may not be as big a factor as initially indicated.
On a separate but related note - one way to add additional parking spots to the area would be to eliminate the cab stand directly across the street from this area at 4821 N. Broadway. That would open up 2 or 3 parking spots on this block. We will be submitting an official letter requesting the removal of this cab stand and hope we can count on your office to help us pursue this request at city hall.
Thank you!

Subject 4810 N. Broadway: New Cairo Restaurant's Request for 15-Minute Standing Zone
Thank you for your letter to Alderman Mary Ann Smith. I'm copying the Uptown business organizations on this email for their approval of your 15-minute standing zone request (sse attached). Note that bus stop signs generally cannot be moved as their clearances are set by CTA.
When Uptown Business Partners and Uptown United give their feedback to our office, we can take the next step of ordinance introduction (if approved). The next city council meeting is March 9 and we would need the paperwork in by this Friday, March 4. I'm not sure when the next city council is after this but probably a Wednesday in early April.
