RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ISAAC FERRER AND THE LIFE-SAVING CONTRIBUTIONS OF ORGAN DONORS IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, The City Council desires to raise awareness and encourage participation in the Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor Registry; and
WHEREAS, The Illinois Organ/Tissue Donor Registry has witnessed significant growth under the leadership of the Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 113,000 men, women, and children are on an organ/tissue donor waitlist in the United States, and nearly 4,000 of those people are in Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national transplant waiting list; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed by the Honorable Nicholas Sposato, Alderman ofthe 38th Ward, ofthe selfless actions of Isaac Ferrer in volunteering as a kidney donor; and
WHEREAS, Isaac Ferrer is an exemplary City of Chicago employee, and is currently serving as a Project Manager in the Department of Innovation and Technology; and
WHEREAS, When Isaac learned that his sister, LaTanya Ferrer, was in need ofa kidney transplant, he immediately got tested to determine if he was a donor match; and
WHEREAS, After establishing that he is a compatible match to donate a kidney to his sister LaTanya, Isaac began the process of scheduling and preparing for the kidney donation procedure; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pride that the City Council recognizes the compassionate generosity of Isaac Ferrer in volunteering to donate a kidney to his sister LaTanya; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered together this eighteenth day of December, 2019, do hereby extend our best wishes and prayers to Isaac Ferrer and his sister LaTanya Ferrer for a quick recovery and health and happiness in years to come; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to Isaac Ferrer as a token of our esteem and good wishes.
