City Council September 9th, 2020
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Patrick D. Botica, has announced that he will retire as the 11 th Ward ; Superintendent on August 31st, 2020, after thirty years, of service to the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of his announcement of retirement by Alderman Patrick D. Thompson; and
WHEREAS, Patrick a lifelong resident of Chicago's South Side, was born March 29th, 1965 and raised in Armour Square and currently resides in Canaryyilje; and
WHEREAS, Patrick the son of Anthony (Midge) and Shirley Botica; the youngest of eight children Patrick grew up alongside Donna, John, Michael, the late Matthew, Joanne, Timothy, and Martin; and
WHEREAS, Patrick attended St. Jerome grammar school then continued his studies at Saint Mary's of Perpetual Help High School; and
WHEREAS, Patrick began his long career with the City of Chicago as bricklayer for the Chicago Park District in 1990, then in 1994 moved to the Department of Sewers as a bricklayer; and in 1998 Patrick moved to the Department of Transportation. In 2010, he was appointed the 11th Ward Superintendent; and "■<
WHEREAS, Patrick has been the best Ward Superintendent in the City and the residents of the 11th Ward have truly appreciated his commitment and dedication to keeping the 11th Ward clean and safe; and
WHEREAS, Patrick, in addition to being a proud Chicagoan, takes pride in his Croatian and
Irish heritage and is a member of the Adriatic Club; and ', -
WHEREAS, Patrick married the love of his life Bridget (Byrnes) Botica on July 24th 1992, and together they are the proud parents of Kaitlyn, Jaicie, Payton, and Patrick; he is the father-in-law to Matt Villimas and Deda to Benjamin and Maxwell; and
WHEREAS, Patrick looks forward to enjoying his retirement with his friends and family; and,
WHEREAS, The motto of Chicago is "the City that Works", it is the hard work of people like Patrick D. Botica that make this motto stand the test of time; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this ninth day of September, 2020, do hereby congratulate Patrick D. Botica on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Chicago; applaud him for his many years of exemplary leadership; and commend him for his unwavering; dedication and seryice to the residents of our great City; and
