CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO CHIEF TOM CARBONNEAU ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, On July 23, 2022, Chief Tom Carbonneau retires from the Chicago Fire Department following 42 years of dedicated public service; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Matthew J. O'Shea, Alderman ofthe 19th. Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Carbonneau grew up in Chicago, in the West Lawn neighborhood; he attended Queen of the Universe Grammar School, and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1977; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Carbonneau began his illustrious career with the Chicago Fire Department on February 19, 1980; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Carbonneau worked various assignments over his four decades with the Chicago Fire Department before being promoted to the 1st District's Chief in 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Chief Carbonneau upheld the finest traditions ofthe Chicago Fire Department, and his hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he served; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Carbonneau devoted his life to public service and the people of the City of Chicago, and in doing so, has personally ensured the City is the safe, healthy, and vibrant community it is today; and

 

WHEREAS, In retirement, Chief Carbonneau will continue golfing, cheering on the Blackhawks, traveling the world with his wife, Mary, and spending time with his children, Tom, Kristin, and Kevin, and his grandchildren; and

 

WHEREAS, The leaders of the City of Chicago want to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants and extend our sincerest gratitude for the long and prolific career of Chief Carbonneau; now, therefore

 

BEIT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-second day of June, 2022, do hereby express our appreciation for 42 years of service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Chief Tom Carbonneau; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Chief Tom Carbonneau.
