^QllBTBClS ■ Ear|y in *ne evening of October 7, 2014, Chicago Fire Department Ambulance Company 14 responded to a report of multiple gunshot victims on the 7200 block of South Lowe Avenue, having been advised of the possibility that one of the victims was a Chicago Police Officer; and
WHEREAS, Arriving at the scene. Ambulance 14 Commander and Paramedic Jason Raymond saw several Chicago Police Officers, with weapons drawn, running across the intersection, while other police vehicles converged on the chaotic area; and
WHEREAS, Hearing gunshots. Ambulance Commander Raymond directed his partner. Paramedic Tomasz Oskinis, to exit the ambulance with him so that they could use it as a shield from the shots being fired; and
WHEREAS, Chicago police officers told Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis that the shooter was still active and was firing at anything that moved, and also confirmed that a police captain had been shot; and
WHEREAS, Upon hearing this chilling news. Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis gathered their medical equipment and proceeded to search for the downed police captain, who had sustained multiple wounds to his head and shoulders; and
WHEREAS, Finding the wounded officer, Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis immediately began medical treatment in a valiant effort to save the police captain's life; and
WHEREAS, Placing their own lives in jeopardy, Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis swiftly stabilized their patient, placed him on a stretcher and transported him to the hospital; and
WHEREAS, If not for the extraordinary teamwork and skilled, heroic efforts of Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis, under extremely intense and dangerous conditions, the police captain may have suffered further injury or died; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to the bravery and competence of Paramedics Raymond and Oskinis, not only did the wounded police captain recover from his injuries, he returned to work approximately two months later; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the highest traditions of the Chicago Fire Department, Ambulance Commander and Paramedic Jason Raymond and Paramedic Tomasz Oskinis performed their lifesaving intervention skillfully, decisively and with outstanding results; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby applaud Chicago Fire Department Ambulance Commander and Paramedic Jason Raymond and Paramedic Tomasz Oskinis for their dedication, professionalism and valor; and
8£ IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to these members of the Chicago Fire Department, and placed on permanent record in each of their personnel files, as a token of our appreciation and esteem.
