Ladies and Gentlemen:
At the request of the Commissioner of Aviation, I transmit herewith an ordinance conferring acquisition authority for the runway protection zone at Midway International Airport.
Your favorable consideration of this ordinance will be appreciated.

ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago ("City") is a duly constituted and existing municipality within the meaning of Section 1, Article VII, of the 1970 Constitution of the State of Illinois ("Constitution"), and is a home rule unit of local government under Section 6(a), Article VII, of the Constitution and, as such, may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, the City owns and, through its Chicago Department of Aviation ("CPA"), operates the airport known as Chicago Midway International Airport ("Midway Airport"); and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is useful, desirable and necessary for the City to acquire for fair market value those certain parcels of real property located in the vicinity of Midway Airport that have been identified by the CDA as follows: Midway Parcel 153, commonly known as 5607-11 West 63rd Street, identified by Cook County as Permanent Index Number 19-20-203-017-0000; and Midway Parcel 154, commonly known as 5613 West 63rd Street, identified by Cook County as Permanent Index Number 19-20-203-016-0000 (collectively, the "Parcels"); and
WHEREAS, the Parcels are legally described on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof, and depicted on Exhibit B attached hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the Parcels are being acquired by the City for public purpose and use, namely, as a Runway Protection Zone or a Runway Safety Area, or both, as recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration ("FAA"); now, therefore,
