MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Ruth Curtis Lingenfelter in Belton, Missouri, on July 11, 2013 at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39lh Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Curtis Lingenfelter was an active and vital member of her community. The loving mother of Thomas Curtis of Hermitage, Missouri, Dee Anne Hansen of Farmington, Missouri, Dwight Curtis of Chicago, Illinois, and Nancy Curtis of Kansas City, Missouri; treasured grandmother of thirteen grandchildren; cherished great-grandmother of sixteen greatgrandchildren, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, the late Colby Albert Curtis in 1997 and the late Dr. Fred Lingenfelter in 2011; her brother, Woodrow; her sister, Edith and her grandson, Michael Curtis. Ruth leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Ruth was born on March 10, 1923 in Henrietta, Oklahoma, graduated from Eldorado Springs High School and then relocated to Kansas City in 1955. Ruth worked as a secretary at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base until she retired in 1979; was a member and organist ofthe Belton Presbyterian Church, and was also a member ofthe Eastern Star; and
WHEREAS, Ruth touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart, and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-fourth day of July 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ruth Curtis Lingenfelter and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
