TRIBUTE TO ANNA MARIE PICKETT BIBBS-PEPPERS


WHEREAS, On Monday, July 7, 2014, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment called Anna Marie Pickett Bibbs-Peppers, an outstanding citizen and beloved member of her community, to her eternal reward at the age of seventy-eight; and

WHEREAS, Anna was raised for most of her life, in the South Chicago neighborhood by her loving parents, Katie "Snookum" Horton and Lacy Thompson. She attended Bowen High School and sang in the school choir. She was an only child but there was much laughter and happiness being shared throughout her lifetime. Her cousin, Frank Pickett, whose age only differed by six months, was more of a brother to her than a first cousin. Anna also shared her childhood with her lifelong friends, Florence Rogers, Joyce Phillips and cousin, Luco Johnson; and

i WHEREAS, Anna was a devoted member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Friendship Baptist Church and the Apostolic Church of God. She served over fifteen years on the Usher Board and in the business
office; and

WHEREAS, In June 1954 Anna and Curtis L. Bibbs met and eventually wed and to this union three children were born, Carl, Calvin and Cathey. Curtis L. Bibbs was called to his eternal reward on April 2, 1976;and

WHEREAS, Anna was employed with Illinois Bell and retired in December 1985 after thirty years of dedicated service. During her employment with Illinois Bell she received several promotions and held the position of marketing manager prior to her retirement. She met her current husband, Jefferson C. Peppers II, that same year; and

WHEREAS, A warm, loving and caring citizen, Anna Marie Pickett Bibbs-Peppers leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Jefferson C. Peppers II; children, Carl Bibbs (Cheryl), Calvin Bibbs, and Cathey Mayes (Jamie); grandchildren, Alexander Bibbs, Carl Perry Bibbs, Christopher Bibbs, Raquel Harp, R'mand Harp, and Madison Mayes, "Brother" Frank Pickett (Fannie), dear friends, Florence Rogers and Rosemary S...
