RESOLUTION



WHEREAS, The Honorable Paul Schell has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 76; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Paul Schell was the 50th Mayor of the City of Seattle and the loving husband for 51 years of Pam; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Paul Schell was the much-adored father of Jamie to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, An attorney and former developer, the Honorable Paul Schell was the Dean of the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning from 1993 to 1996; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Paul Schell ably served as Mayor from 1998 to 2002 and built a reputation as one of the great city builders of the Pacific Northwest; and

WHEREAS, During the Honorable Paul Schell's term in office, Seattle built its new City Hall, Justice Center, downtown library and several branch libraries and six community centers and rebuilt the Opera House and Seattle Symphony Hall; and

WHEREAS, Under the guidance and leadership of the Honorable Paul Schell, Seattle also developed 37 neighborhood plans which laid the foundation for the City's strong neighborhood system; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Paul Schell serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Paul Schell to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Paul Schell was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Paul Schell imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
