MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR JAMES E. DEIGNAN
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of James Edward Deignan on March 5, 2019 at the age of sixty-seven; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 1, 1951, Jim was one of eight children born to Mary and John Deignan. He grew up in a loving family that emphasized love, faith, and the value of hard work; and
WHEREAS, Jim earned a BA from the University of St. Thomas, an MBA from DePaul University and an MA from DePaul University; specializing in Industrial Organization and Economics of Regulation; and
WHEREAS, Jim began his distinguished career with AT&T, a dedicated employee of more than 37 years, where his significant accomplishments earned him a promotion to management. Retirement provided him the opportunity to share his knowledge and expertise with young students as an instructor of Economics at College of DuPage and Oakton Community College; and
WHEREAS, Jim leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved sisters, Cathy (Roger) McGill, Julie (Charles) Schultz, and his devoted brother Gerard (Theresa) Deignan; nephews and nieces Thomas, Seanne, Julie, Michael, Patrick, and Kerry Sullivan; John, Colette, and James McGill; Robert and John Deignan; Elizabeth, Patrick, Eileen and Nora Deignan; and, Katie, Mary Pat and Michael Schultz; and his great nieces, nephews, and dear cousins; and
WHEREAS, Jim was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Mary and John Deignan and beloved siblings, Virginia (Tom) Sullivan, Mary Therese, Colette, and John Michael; and
WHEREAS, Jim will always be remembered by friends for his enjoyable conversation, laughs, and understated sense of humor. He touched the lives of all who knew him through his warm and loving spirit.
